NFL Mock Draft 1.0

January 11, 2010 Mock Draft
Heres the projected picks of the 20 non playoffs teams they follow this order:
ROUND ONE
1. St. Louis (1-15)
Ndamukong Suh, DT, Nebraska
The Rams will likely go with the best player in the draft in defense tackle Suh from Nebraska, theres a big possibility to go quarterback here but theres really no QB in this draft worthy of the number one pick..the rams will most likely give the qb position a look in the second round.

2. Detroit (2-14)
Russell Okung, OT, Ok State
The Lions invested a lot in their rookie QB Matt Stafford from Georgia last years top pick...Stafford had a very good rookie year and they want to protect their franchise player so offensive tackle Okung from Oklahoma State seems like a likely pick here.

3. Tampa Bay (3-13) Eric Berry, S, Tennessee
Tampa Bay struggled this year on both sides of the ball but showed promise and Josh Freeman took over towards the end of the season and showed that he has talent to play on the NFL level. The Bucs defense used to be their strength in the 2000s but of late has fallen apart...their secondary has been exposed last year so with the 3rd pick they go with safety Eric Berry from Tennessee who is a true ball hawk and game breaker and will have an immediate impact.

4. Washington (4-12) Sam Bradford, QB, OU
With new coach Mike Shanahan in control his first decision may be the most important of his upcoming season he could go QB here based on the inconsistency of Jason Campbell. So here I see them going with Sam Bradford of Oklahoma, Bradford is best quarterback prospect of the draft despite his devastating shoulder injury last season he poses excellent pocket awareness and good arm strength, his health remains in question.

5. Kansas City (4-12)
Anthony Davis, T, Rutgers
For the chiefs next season they look to have some nice pieces in place with Matt Cassell at QB and Jamaal Charles getting the full workload and perhaps being 2010 version of Chris Johnson. With the 5th pick they will address their offensive line struggles and go with from Rutgers to protect their young quarterback and to open running lanes for their speed tailback.

6. Seattle (5-11)
Gerald McCoy, DT, OU
Welcome Pete Carroll who left the beautiful Southern California squad for an average Seahawks team will very little talent. With this 6th pick Seattle will go defensive tackle and take McCoy from Oklahoma who surprisingly dropped to Seahawks at 6 in being an impact defensive player and number 2 ranked DT closely behind Suh.

7. Cleveland (5-11)
Joe Haden, CB, Florida
The Browns need help at the corner position so here they take the best corner in the draft, Joe Haden from Florida defines the words "shut-down" corner this guy is top 5 talent but falls to them at 7.
Oakland had an up and down season as they looked really bad at times but then really good at times, this team has a solid defense but struggles to score points they need to protect their QB whoever and where ever he may be so they take offensive tackle Campbell from Maryland.

9. Buffalo (6-10)
Jimmy Clausen, QB, ND
The Bills had a bad year perhaps worse then their record shows, the Bills will be thrilled here that Jimmy Claussen is still on the board so they quickly take the Notre Dame product here who has great arm strength and ability as he played under an NFL type offense under Coach Weiss with the fighting Irish.

10. Jacksonville (7-9)
Dez Bryant, WR, Ok State
Mike Sims-Walker emerged as their top WR in 2009 but they also learned that Torry Holt is aging and does not have a lot of time left so with the tenth pick they take Bryant a 6-2 220 pound WR who has some character issues but his play on the field speaks for itself.

11. Denver (8-8)
Brian Price, DT, UCLA
The Broncos would love to get Dez Bryant if hes available to fills in their holes and lack of depth at wide receiver especially if Brandon Marshall has played his last game as a Bronco, since they missed on Bryant they'll take Price a DT from UCLA to bolster their defense line as a good fit in McDaniel's scheme.
Miami lands Brandon Spikes to play inside linebacking for the Dolphins making their linebacking group very impressive adding Spikes to the inside already having Jason Taylor and Joey Porter on the outside.

13. San Francisco (8-8)
Trent Williams, OT, OU
San Francisco's defense showed to be one of the best in 2009, their only problem seemed to be the inconsistent play from their quarterback, the 49ers would love to pair this pick in a package deal to snag McNabb or take Claussen/Bradford if they are available, it both of these scenario fail to happen they take offensive lineman to protect Alex Smith.

14. Seattle (from Denver 8-8)
Taylor Mays, S, USC
USC ties from Pete Carroll makes this an easy pick for the Seahawks who grab an impact safety to fill some holes in the secondary. Carroll starts off with two solid with in Mays and McCoy in his top 2 picks.

15. New York Giants (8-8)
Rolando McClain, ILB, Bama
The Giants fell apart last season, and their struggles were mainly due to the lack of play of their defense. The NYG take Ronaldo McClain here to help their aging and untalented linebacking core. McClain was an instrumental part of Alabama's run becoming national champions.

16. Tennessee (8-8) Carlos Dunlap, DE, Florida
The Titans need youth at defensive end, Dunlap can provide that and be an immediate impact to this Titans defense.

17. San Francisco (8-8) Eversen Griffin, DE, USC
The Niners need to continue to protect Patrick Willis and let him make plays, Griffen will allow that to happen. Their defense is already solid so look for them to trade to land a QB.

18. Pittsburgh (9-7) Dan Williams, DT, Tennessee
The linebacking core remains solids so the Steelers will look for help on the defensive line and will take the best DT/DE on the board so Williams from Tennessee seems like a good pick.

19. Atlanta (9-7)
Ras-I Dowling, CB, UVA
The Falcons had major problems at the corner position, with the 19th pick they take the second ranked CB from Viriginia in Dowling who is a complete corner with good speed.

20. Houston (9-7) C.J. Spiller, RB, Clemson
With the fumbling struggles and injuries of Steve Slaton and Ryan Moats the Texans failed to have successful days on the ground..With returner/pass catching back here Spiller can add another level to the passing game as well as provide hard 3rd down running as he teams-up with Slaton to make a dynamic 2 head running monster.
